Frequently asked questions

What is funding-rate arbitrage?

Perpetual contracts pay a funding fee between longs and shorts, and each exchange sets its own rate. Long the venue paying less, short the venue paying more, and you collect the difference every funding window with the price fully hedged.

How much does a funding trade pay?

The payout is the rate gap times position size, credited up to three times a day on the usual 8-hour schedule. Gaps on majors are small and steady; the large ones show up on freshly listed or heavily crowded contracts.

What are the risks?

Rates reset each window, so an edge can disappear before the next payment. Entry fees and slippage eat part of the gap, and both legs need enough margin to survive a sharp move — the hedge protects the price, not the margin.
